Life before the Social Media Takeover

March 7, 2014 Jasmine

It’s so sad to say, but I can’t remember what life was like before social media. Every since I can remember I have always had an online profile, because before Facebook and Twitter, there was Myspace. I have always been sort of a computer geek I guess, I was a Sims fanatic. There is no way I could forget about Sims, Sims2, and even Sims3! If you aren’t familiar with Sims, it is an interactive computer game where you can control virtual human beings throughout their life. Sims had to be the best game ever to play as a child, you can do everything from having your sim apply for a job to getting married.

Before I played Sims I used to go to Barbie.com and personalize barbies that look like me in different outfits. I would have a vintage barbie, a glamorous barbie, and probably even a sporty barbie. I loved to change the eye shadow colors to match the outfits, and finding all the matching accessories.

Let’s see, before I was playing around on the computer I was laying on the floor right in front of tv like I didn’t have 20/20 vision, playing my playstation. I just loved to play the crash bandicoot games, mario, and any action filled game that was similar. And then of course, in the old days before I was in the house getting into mischief, my mom had me enrolled with Girls Inc. and the Boys and Girls Club. I always liked interacting with other people, making new friends, and having fun after school.

Now that I think about it, life before social media was more personable and free. Nowadays everyone is glued to their phones, laptop, and/or tablet.
