Topic of the week: Social Media linked to Body Issues

I fully agree with the theory/concept that body images are becoming more distorted due to social media usage! Social media allows for it’s participants to constantly look appealing in other’s eyes to gain more likes. Social media abusers need to realize how to portray genuineness and simply be ‘themselves’.  Young women get wrapped in this distorted image about beauty through reflecting how others feel about them translate to how they feel.

What others think of you doesn’t suffice, only you know your true self. The other day in my social media class we watched a movie about a generation being hooked to the digital world and viral communication. This new generation will suffer more than us all with constant approval and perfection addictions.

“Beauty is from within” is a social media campaign that needs to take place in all middles schools! I read an article that talked about how girls develop their self-concepts between the ages of 5-15. This is a mental disease we do NOT want to spread to future generations! Operation save Generation Z!!!

“Beauty is not about having a pretty face. It’s about having a pretty mind, pretty heart, and a pretty soul” – Unkwnown
